How hard it is to explode a hole in concrete wall?

5 528 Näkymät 556 t.

How hard are concrete walls to get through with explosives? Is a hand grenade enough or do you need a breaching charge like on the video games like call of duty modern warfare 2? Don't try this at home!
Here is link to Pommijätkät video from the same day

I gotta wonder... was the "professional" that was referenced as inspiration for the water-canister-charge, by any chance, the great Dr. Sidney Alford? with his Dioplex User-Filled Linear Cutting Charge Kit (from 1987)? because the whole description of the thin layer explosive in a large 'pad' reminds me of that thing.

It would be interesting to know the hardness class (lujuusluokka) of this particular concrete wall that you used for this video. In my experience the majority of factory-made concrete wall elements are cast with C30/37 (K37) or C35/45 (K45) concrete, so my guess is it is one of these. It probably makes a big difference however if this element was cast with for example C50/60 (K60) or higher concrete.

How to blow a hole in a concrete wall? Well he is dead, so you can't ask Sir Barnes Wallis You could just watch the film "The Dam Busters. FFS don't mention the dog's name! Look up on FIpulse the film soundtrack spliced against the attack on The Death Star in Star Wars.

Really great, entertaining video. I can say those reinforced concrete walls are better analogues for hardened bunkers. Structures which are intended to generally resist being penetrated by all but the most determined munition. The results were excellent for more-or-less improvised devices, and generally breaching charges are used in situations to breach through much less resilient material (wood, mud bricks, or standard construction grade mason blocks). A little bit of clever C4 deployment is sufficient for those purposes. For a reinforced concrete structure, like a bunker, you would not be aiming to breach it and then enter it through a wall as much as you would be looking for a way to neutralize its value by (bluntly) killing anyone manning it inside. At which point you could enter the structure through its designed entry points with no resistance. This is why ballistic munitions with delayed fuzes are better suited for the task. A heavy object, such as a 100-ish pound artillery shell or a 2000-ish pound bomb falling at high angle from great altitude will just smash through the concrete and explode on the other side a few moments after the fuze has been triggered by the impact. A point-detonating or air-bursting munition would be worse than useless, but the nice thing about a fuze is that it can be changed without altering the munitions they are attached to much (if at all). The latter is a better choice with available precision guidance options and overall mass, you could plow a bomb easily through the concrete and it would quite simply ruin anything fleshy or vulnerable to secondary explosion inside. Shoulder and vehicle-mounted munitions could be effective as well provided there were something on the other side to cause secondary explosions such in the case of a munitions bunker which you would want to be in another zip code for when it is destroyed. Source: though I am by no means a ballistics expert, in the US Military it was my job to decide how to attack a particular target and a great amount of knowledge and first hand operational experience going into those decisions informs my analysis. I do think this is a good myth-busting of depictions in some video games that assume you could blast through a concrete wall of really any grade construction with something you can throw into a rucksack.

What you need to do is take the German magnet tank buster mechanics into effect a "U" or cone shape facing away from the wall will give maximum penetration on the wall since it drives alot of pressure in the object you wish to penetrate

So that last charge would've been more effective if it had used glass instead of what looks like steel. The glass would've caused a pressure jet to shoot through the concrete. Y'all were trying to take advantage of the Misznay-Schardin effect instead and really should've been using flatter pieces of steel for your penetrators. What you did does get the job done(kind of) but you definitely could've blown a hole in the wall if your charges were just slightly different

It IS amazing how an explosive can be focused by a little weight opposite it. Once blew a 3lb coffee can of Tannerite on top of a car with a 16lb bowling ball on top. Blew off the roof and an 18" hole down through the seat (over the driver) and floor then about 2ft down into hard packed earth beneath. The ball went up in a couple pieces and was never seen again. Fun times in America!

I think the main problem with your invention is that the majority of the explosion was not directed to the wall, instead was dispersed in every direction. What is commonly used for breaching metal containers are directional charges which focus the explosion's hot gases in one direction to maximise efficiency while minimising collateral damage
